How good do you have to be to enter Heaven?

You are probably thinking to yourself right now, "Why am I reading this...I am going to heaven...I am a good person." Most people believe that they are going to heaven. They think they have lived a good life. In fact, almost everyone thinks they are a good person. But the question you should be asking is, "Am I good enough to go to Heaven?" How good do you have to be to enter into heaven? According to the Bible...you have to be perfect in thought word and deed. You would have to be perfect, and sinless throughout your entire life. That is God's standard...PERFECTION...and who on earth is perfect?

NO ONE except Jesus Christ has lived up to that standard. The Bible says no one is good...not even one (Romans 3:10-12 / Matthew 19:17). "All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God." Romans 3:23. Even our best efforts at being good and righteous before God are looked at by God as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). If you claim to be without sin the Bible says you deceive yourself and even make God out to be a liar (1 John 1:8-10). Many people today are raised to believe that "good" people die and go to heaven. And that only the really "bad" people die and go to hell. Isn't it true that we often think the best of ourselves and the worst of other people. Well what is good? How good do you have to be to enter heaven? Matthew 5:48 says, "You therefore must be perfect as your heavenly father is perfect." 

In other words to be good is to be perfect in thought, word and deed. Who is like that? Remember Jesus said, Luke 18:19
"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good—except God alone."  Goodness is NOT found in ANY man but only in God alone. There is NOT a man on earth by God's standard that is considered good!
